Howdy y'all!  My name is SolAna Renteria and I'm a born and raised East Austinite. I started beauty school in 2002 not knowing, but hoping I would fall in love with hairdressing, and I did! I've had the opportunity to work with many talented hairstylists during my years in the industry and have gained some deep knowledge and understanding of all that comes with trying to obtain the best version of hair possible. I've been through extensive training such as Bumble and Bumble University in New York, Wella Color, and Pivot Point all at an advanced level. Some of my work has been featured in local magazines and fashion shows including Austin Monthly. I've also styled celebrities for the PBS show Overheard w/ Evan Smith and Texas Monthly Talks. Offering trend setting new styles or a personalized look, I cater to the hair care and style of all. Come in and give me a chance to impress you!

Salon 1936 is a modern, full service hair salon located in my childhood home, a historic 1936 bungalow in Central East Austin. Here you will find a light and airy atmosphere with original hardwoods, lots of natural light, and a beautiful front door I rehabbed myself from Habitat for Humanity!

CANCELLATION POLICY:

Please give at least 24 hours notice if you are unable to keep a scheduled appointment. If less than 24 hours notice is given, you will be charged 50% of scheduled service. New client cancellations or repeat cancellations require a $50 non-refundable deposit to book another appointment that will be applied to your next service. Clients more than 20 minutes late to their appointments are considered cancelled appointments. Thanks for your understanding!

FAQs:

 

Should I wash my hair before I come?

It's my belief that in order to see what's really going on with your hair/scalp, it's best to come with hair you wouldn't mind being seen in public with. It's hard to see how the hair falls and how much roots have grown when the hair is extra dirty. This may be 2 days for some and 5 days for others. Some people won't lift as bright or have as good of grey coverage when they come with extra oily hair. When in doubt, just ask! Also, be sure to come with hair that hasn't been dented by ponytails/buns. Highlighting and coloring dented hair is an unnecessary hurdle. Never come with wet hair for coloring services.

Can I bring my children to the salon with me?

Only children receiving services are allowed in the salon.

How much do you charge for Men's/Children's haircuts?

All haircuts are $80.

I just need a trim, how much is that?

The amount of hair taken off does not affect the price of a haircut.

What if I am not happy with my service?

If you are not happy with your service, please let me know. I want all of my clients expectations to be exceeded! You will not hurt my feelings, I promise!
